PROGRAMS :: Basic First Aid
Basic First Aid is defined as the immediate
and temporary care given to a victim of an accident or sudden illness
until medical care can be obtained. Whether you’re a citizen
or Doctor, all treatment starts with the basics. The course consists
of lecture and video presentation, with the majority being hands
on with manikins and fellow students. The course material
is based on the American Heart Association and National Health &
Safety Education standards.
The course goes over:
- Recognizing emergencies
- Deciding to act
- Legal considerations
- Taking action
- Checking an conscious/unconscious victim
- Soft tissue injuries
- Injuries to Muscles, Bones and Joints
- Sudden Illness
- Poisoning
- Environmental injuries
Practical skills to be performed:
- Checking an unconscious victim
- Control bleeding
- Apply various splints
- Treat for shock
